How Far Some Girls Go To Get “Sorority Pretty”

For Cosmopolitan’s August 2018 issue, I wrote the feature story that explored the lengths young women go to in order to land a bid at their dream sorority. To get a full picture of what the sorority recruitment is like today, I interviewed dozens of college girls, graduates, campus salon owners, and professional rush coaches. From their narratives, I reported on how the pressures of social media and their peers effect self-image, and how today’s beauty-centric culture influences the overall sorority rush experience.
